MacBook Air Discounts

Now that Apple has announced upgrades to it’s MacBook Air lineup, the previous models have dropped in price significantly. I’m personally using the (older) top of the line model 11.6″ version, because it’s easy to travel with and mainly for just emails and internet browsing. I tried an iPad, but the limited browser and lack of keyboard made it impossible as a mobile blogger. Having USB ports allows me to download and backup from my Compact cameras.
Do you need the latest model? Even with upgraded horsepower, I don’t see myself using these systems for photo or video editing, it’s just too small. My version is now discounted about $350 dollars from when I purchased it (not too long ago). So if you’re looking for a solid travel system with the longest battery life, and instant on, these older MacBook Air systems are the bees knees..

Eboboo Body Mount Supporter

eboboo body mount supporter
Thanks to Erik for a refresher about the Eboboo Body Mount Supporter. I’ve seen this little harness a few years back, but I’m not the type to wear something like this just to hold a camera. Silly idea? Well now that Cotton Carrier has finally created an adapter to support DSLR video (here), this ‘Body Mount Supporter’ idea (that was fetched long before DSLRs were doing video) doesn’t look so far fetched anymore.
The Eboboo Body Mount Supporter is even offered with a hands free Umbrella holder should you need to shoot outdoors. Might be worth looking in to if you’re on the same DIY path for some odd reason. Website found at Eboboo.com, and you can find information on the product and an entire 8 part series of videos over on YouTube here. [Thanks Erik]

A D3 Roundup

Rob Galbraith has posted an excellent roundup of some of the best Nikon D3 photos that have trickled onto the internet. These photos were shot by well-known photographers such as Tony Bock, Nick DidlickDavid Einsel and Peter K. Burian, who were recruited by Nikon to test their new flagship camera. The photos also include links to full resolution downloads.

Canon Announcement – The Story Begins

Canon-The-Story-Begins-5D-MarkIII
Been keeping up with the news? Canon has scheduled an event in Hollywood on November 3rd to make some big annoucements. Of course we all feel like many of their professional DSLR cameras are overdue for an upgrade like the Canon 5D Mark III, I doubt we’ll hear anything about that this early. Who knows, it could just end up as an announcement for a new mirror-less camera lineup. More speculation about the latest announcement is towards a high end professional 4K video camera that will compete with the RED EPIC, which sounds more fitting for a Hollywood reception. They did already have a 4K prototype available at the shows one year ago. Either way, i’m staying glued to the internet on November 3rd to keep up with the news.

Nikon UK to Include Capture NX with D3 and D300

Nikon UK is pleased to announce that for the first time its new professional Digital SLR cameras, the D3 and D300, will be accompanied by Capture NX, Nikon’s award winning software package.
The latest version of the software, Capture NXv1.3 will give professional photographers the creative freedom to develop and enhance shots, particularly when shooting in RAW format. Initial shipments of the new cameras will come with a product key that will unlock a downloaded trial version of NX available from the web site. A CD ROM version will be bundled with D300 and D3 from December.

Canon Powershot S100 and SX40IS

Canon just recently announced the upgrade to the popular Canon S95 and SX30IS, replacing them with the new Canon S100 and Canon SX40IS. These are two very popular cameras with features like full manual controls, 1080HD Video, Shoot in RAW, and can zoom from 24mm-840mm (35x). There’s already an Amazon page dedicated to each camera with a full breakdown of features including information about the new CMOS and Digic 5 image processor.
The Digic 5 processor is said to be 6x times faster with 75% less noise than the Digic 4. The ability to auto white balance has also been greatly improved. Umm hold on, was that 75% less noise? Those numbers are a major improvement. Think of this as a sneak peek to what we’ll be seeing in future DSLRs. Definitely worth the read – found below.
